Wired magazine Editor-in-Chief plugged my social network!

So a while back, someone mentioned my site and because of a flood of traffic and my newbie status, I had no idea where or who the post came from. Real life also intervened, and everything was neglected.

Fast forward to recent, I find out that though the website and hosting is down, I still own the domains. One of the subdomains has a job script, for some reason is still up and receiving traffic, and I have a few hundred waiting for me to claim.

So this gets me thinking, I have a solid year plus of experience now, so I build up a decent social networking site for the community and tell the fan page (still active with 200 fans), Tweet it, etc. Have about 20 members since I started this yesterday. I know this is small, but not really the point. ;-) I'm running it on phpFox if anyone is curious.

So today I'm going through emails and searching online for mentions of the website a year or two ago so I can follow through with anyone, especially if they have a following, and let them know it has been redesigned, launched again, would love to see them back or even see an update to their post abut us, etc.

Then the one who plugged it briefly, reading up about him, I realize and verify is the current EiC of Wired and the cause of my traffic spike. I unfortunately realized this AFTER I emailed him to let him know about the site redesign and relaunch, or I would have spent far more time deciding how to approach this gentleman, LOL.

I was just curious. Even though it was a time ago, my site is up, redesigned, better than ever, and drawing the community back in which STILL has a need that we are filling (well, promising to, and we're getting there, way closer than before when he initially plugged us). Is there a way for me to still promote or use the fact that he mentioned us?

Yes, I can prove this, and it was really just a blurb, though he did mention a few key comments that still apply exactly to us. And like I said, it was over a year ago.

Thanks guys!
